Philip Atwin of the Kingsclear First Nation has decades of experience in working with both First Nations as well as other stakeholders in conservation and fish and wildlife-related projects. As a member of the NB Fish and Wildife Association for the past twenty years, and an avid fishing enthusiast, Phil is well known as a serious conservationist. Salmon numbers are way down this year again, we have to try to do what we can to recover the species. Phil will be conducting a series of workshops in our Maliseet communities to educate our people on the new Species at Risk legislation as well as the Invasive Species problems currently facing our watershed. Notices will be sent out once the dates for these workshops have been finalized. Phil encourages as many Elders as possible to attend these sessions order to share Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge (ATK) and discuss developing a protocol for the collection of such knowledge.
