The MNCC is leading an initiative to conduct a comprehensive management plan process
for the Saint John River (SJR) watershed. This process will be in several stages.
In phase I we will be conducting a series of public meetings in order to gather input
or feedback from our member communities as well as the general public.
This project is the first step in increasing our involvement in managing the river and
its resources. The project already has interest from a number of conservation groups
who agree with the necessity of a management plan for our river. Currently in New
Brunswick, only two other rivers have such management plans, the Miramichi and
Restigouche Rivers.
This project is only on the proposal stage at this time. Dates and times for the public
consultation meetings will be posted on this site and may take place as soon as spring 2008.
